Jake Fraser-McGurk made his international debut in the recent AUS vs WI ODI series. Although he failed to come up with a good show in his opening game, Jake Fraser-McGurk hampered a quickfire 41 runs in his next match in AUS vs WI 3rd ODI.

Jake Fraser-McGurk got also hit below his stomach in the match off Alzarri Joseph’s delivery. Later, he also showed his wounds on the camera and added that he got hit twice at the same spot. However, he didn’t carry on that much while batting.

After the ouster of David Warner with his retirement, Jake Fraser-McGurk grabbed the opening slot in the AUS vs WI ODI series. In the 3rd and final encounter, the right-handed batter shattered 18-ball-41. During his knock, he shattered 5 boundaries and 3 sixes to register a stunning strike rate of 227+.

During the post-match chat with Cricket.com.au, Jake Fraser-McGurk revealed that he got hit twice at the same spot during Alzarri Joseph’s delivery. He also showed his wounds below his stomach. Have a look at the video below.

Notably, Alzarri Joseph’s deliveries that hit the Aussie opener had almost 150 kmph speed. However, the 21-year-old batter managed to suffer the pain in the match and went on to smack a wonderful knock. Later, Joseph also dismissed McGurk in the match.

It was an impressive outing for McGurk with the bat, especially after getting out cheaply for 10 runs in the maiden game in the 2nd ODI. Australia bagged a 3-0 clean sweep in the series by crushing West Indies in all three matches comfortably.

Australia won the 3rd ODI by 8 wickets

In AUS vs WI 3rd ODI, Australia opted to bowl after winning the toss. West Indies batters witnessed one of the worst batting collapses in their ODI history. They were bowled out for just 86 runs in 24.1 overs.

Opener Alick Athanaze slammed 32 runs off 60 balls and was the top run-getter for the team. Xavier Bartlett hunted another 4-wicket haul in the series to demolish Caribbean batters. Kjorn Ottley, Keacy Carty, Shai Hope, Teddy Bishop, and Romario Shepherd got out for single digits as West Indies even failed to cross 100 runs on the board.

Lance Morris and Adam Zampa clinched 2 wickets each while Sean Abbott got 1 scalp in his kitty. During the chase, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Josh Inglis gave a blistering start with 41 and 35 respectively. While Australia lost 2 wickets, they chased down the target in 6.5 overs to shatter record books.

Xavier Bartlett wins player-of-the-series in AUS vs WI ODIs

Pacer Xavier Bartlett was awarded the man-of-the-match award for his 4 wickets. He also won the player-of-the-series award for hunting 8 wickets off 2 games. Earlier, Xavier Bartlett clinched another 4-wicket haul in the 1st ODI while making his debut.

Earlier, Australia also won the 1st ODI by 8 wickets and the 2nd ODI by 83 runs. Now, both sides will collide in a three-match T20I series. The opening clash takes place on February 9 in Hobart.
