India National Cricket Team skipper Suryakumar Yadav continued the tradition and handed over the trophy to the youngsters after winning the five-match series against Australia National Cricket Team at home.

The Men In Blue won the first two matches by 2 wickets and 44 runs respectively, before losing the third T20I by 5 wickets. They bounced back strong in the next game and won it by 20 runs to clinch the series.

India then won the 5th and final T20I by 6 runs to clinch the series 4-1. The Suryakumar Yadav & Co. were invited to bat first in the last match and they posted 160/8 on the board, riding on the half-century from Shreyas Iyer and good contributions from Jitesh Sharma and Axar Patel.

Defending the target, the Indian bowlers did a wonderful job and restricted Australia to 154/8 to seal a victory in a nail-biter. Notably, Arshdeep Singh bowled an absolutely stupendous last over as he defended 10 runs against the star wicketkeeper-batter Matthew Wade.

After the win, Suryakumar Yadav collected the trophy and went on to give it to Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma, who were offered the center stage, and the duo celebrated alongside all the players.

Speaking after the match, skipper Suryakumar Yadav stated that the players did a good job and expressed satisfaction with their performance. Suryakumar Yadav said:

“It was a good series. The way the boys showed their skills was commendable. We wanted to be fearless, we wanted to enjoy when we were in the middle. I told them, “do whatever is right and just enjoy your game,” and they did the same. So very happy with that.”

He added that chasing a total of 160-175 is always tricky at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Suryakumar said:

“If he (Washington Sundar) would have been there it’d have been an add-on. At Chinnaswamy, 200+ is easier to chase. 160-175 is a tricky told here. After 10 overs, I told the boys that we have a game on.”

India National Cricket Team will next be seen in action when they tour South Africa for an all-format series.
