Yashasvi Jaiswal has carried on his form from Vizag to Rajkot. He scored his maiden double century in Vizag and has smashed another double century in the third Test match which is being played at the Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium in Rajkot. Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has lauded the 22-year-old opener for his consistency saying that he has all the ingredients to become a special player for India in the future. He has smashed three centuries in Test cricket and all of them have been 150+ scores.

Sanjay Manjrekar, while speaking to ESPNcricinfo, said it was amazing to see how Jaiswal quickly and comfortably switched to the Test mode from T20. He played the three-match T20 series against Afghanistan right before the Test series began against England. Sanjay Manjrekar also talked about how Yashasvi Jaiswal started his innings technically with defensive strokeplay but after he got set, there were sweeps and reverse sweeps. India is in a strong position in the third Test as of now and is looking to win the Test and take a lead in the series.

“I was a little worried about how he (Yashasvi Jaiswal) started. I felt he came in pre-conditioned to play defensively because he is a naturally attacking player. But slowly he opened up and once he opened up, it was amazing how he went from Test mode to pure T20 mode. The strike rate he attained after the first 50 balls was in keeping with the T20 game,” said Manjrekar.

“To begin with he showed some technique with defensive shots but after that is what made him special. We saw the sweep, the reverse sweep, the switch-side sweep as well plus the drives that he plays beautifully. He’s got the power game as well. He’s got all the ingredients to become a special player. This was another reminder of the exceptional ability he has,” Manjrekar added.

Yashasvi Jaiswal has smashed the most sixes for India in a Test innings

Yashasvi Jaiswal lit up the stadium as he smoked James Anderson for three consecutive sixes and took his sixes tally in the innings to 10. This is the highest number of sixes in an innings by any Indian batter and Jaiswal has been brilliant with the bat. He has smashed another double hundred and the way he has batted, it has been a phenomenal performance from the 22-year-old batter in the Test series. Yashasvi Jaiswal has also completed 20 sixes in the Test series which is the highest by any Indian in a Test series.

India and England are facing each other in a five-match Test series which is currently levelled at 1-1 and India is all set to lead the series after winning the third Test in Rajkot. India has never lost a Test series at home after losing in 2012 against England. They have won 16 consecutive Test series at home and are hoping to make it 17 by beating England in this series. The remaining two Tests will be played in Ranchi and Dharamsala respectively and India will aim to seal the series as soon as possible.
