Young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal demonstrated his batting prowess with a brilliant double century in the third Test against England. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s remarkable innings garnered praise from the cricketing community, including England Test skipper Ben Stokes.

Jaiswal notched his second Test double-century of the series on Day 4 of the third Test at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot on Sunday, February 18. Notably, the southpaw earlier scored 209 runs in the first innings of the second Test match in Vishakhapatnam.

The 22-year-old batter scored 104 runs off 133 balls, including nine fours and five sixes, on the third day. However, the left-handed batter retired hurt due to a back spasm later in the day. Jaiswal returned to the field after Shubman Gill’s unfortunate run-out on Day 4.

Yashasvi Jaiswal showcased aggression against the English bowlers, notably smashing veteran pacer James Anderson for three consecutive sixes in an over. He achieved his double century in the 97th over of India’s second innings by taking a single off Joe Root’s delivery.

After 98 overs, skipper Rohit Sharma signalled a declaration from the dressing room, setting England an imposing target of 557 runs. Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 214, including 14 boundaries and 12 sixes. Sarfaraz Khan contributed 68* runs off 72 deliveries.

Another Reminder Of The Exceptional Ability – Sanjay Manjrekar

Former Indian skipper Sanjay Manjrekar made a big statement about Yashasvi Jaiswal, stating that he has the potential to become a special player. He highlighted Jaiswal’s diverse shot selection, including sweeps and drives, along with his power game.

“To begin with he showed some technique with defensive shots but after that is what made him special.
