In a splendid and heartfelt display of camaraderie and friendship, India’s Test debutant in the 3rd Test against England, Sarfaraz Khan exuberantly celebrated his teammate Yashasvi Jaiswal’s remarkable achievement of a second double century in the ongoing Test series, which is nearing towards an end in favor of the Indians who are aiming to walk off from Rajkot with a 2-1 lead.

Sarfaraz Khan and Yashasvi Jaiswal who shared a bond while playing for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy circuit, showcased their synergy and coordination as they stood a crucial 172-run partnership for the fifth wicket. This partnership took India’s runs from 258 to a formidable 430 which significantly contributed to their eventual declaration at a mammoth total of 557 runs, which is proving to be too much for the English contingent.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s feat was absolutely stunning given the adversity he faced. Having reached his century on the third day of the Test, Jaiswal showed immense resilience by returning on the fourth day despite the hamstring injury he sustained yesterday before eventually converting his century into a double hundred earlier today.

His determination and skill were met with Sarfaraz Khan’s aggressive yet composed batting display. Sarfaraz, marking his Test debut, showcased his mettle with scores of 62 and 68 across innings, becoming the fourth Indian batter to achieve consecutive 50+ scores in his maiden Test appearance after Dilawar Hussain, Sunil Gavaskar and Shreyas Iyer.

Sarfaraz’s performance was a testament to his relentless pursuit and dream of representing the Indian national team which were made largely possible through his endeavors in the Ranji Trophy circuit.

His ability to accelerate the innings, coupled with Jaiswal’s unwavering resolve, propelled India to a commanding position in the series. As the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot witnessed their exploits, Sarfaraz Khan and Yashasvi Jaiswal have indicated towards a possible bright future for the Indian team moving forward.

Watch – Sarfaraz Khan celebrating Yashasvi Jaiswal’s sensational double hundred

There was a short heated moment between Sarfaraz Khan and Yashasvi Jaiswal due to the latter’s reluctance to complete a double which could have seen the former reach 49. It inflicted Sarfaraz to chirp a few words to Jaiswal with Indian captain Rohit Sharma too expressing his disapproval from the dressing room.

That happened mainly because of the fact that Sarfaraz had to lose his wicket through a run-out in the 1st innings following a mix-up with Ravindra Jadeja.

But nonetheless, when Yashasvi Jaiswal ran over to the non-striker to complete his double hundred, Sarfaraz Khan was seen celebrating prematurely by raising his bat in the air in immense joy. After all both of them have been teammates for a long time since their Ranji Trophy days but both of their careers have panned out very differently.

While Jaiswal received his maiden call-up last year at the age of 22 following a terrific IPL 2023 outing, Sarfaraz had to wait for a long time to get to the Indian team after years of consistent grind in the domestic red-ball circuit.
