Rohit Sharma has heaped praise on the youngsters after Team India’s record win over England in the recently-concluded third Test against England in Rajkot.

Team India had their back against the wall as several key players were unavailable for the crucial game. While Virat Kohli was unavailable due to personal reasons, KL Rahul was not playing due to an injury. Shreyas Iyer was also not available for the game as the team management was forced to hand debuts to two players – Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel.

However, both the players impressed on their debut to help the team register a thumping 434-run win. Sarfaraz scored half-centuries in both the innings of the Test. On the other hand, Jurel played a fine knock of 46 runs in the first innings to help India post a 400-plus total.

Jurel also impressed with his wicketkeeping and came up with a brilliant effort to run out in-form Ben Duckett in the second innings.  Another youngster, Yashasvi Jaiswal, who made his debut Test last year, also starred with the bat, scoring a stunning double century in the second innings of the Test. He smashed an unbeaten 214 runs off just 236 balls with the help of 14 fours and a record 12 sixes.

Talking about the game, India set England a target of 557 runs before bowling them out for just 122. For England, only Mark Wood (33) managed to touch the 20-run mark with the bat. The 434-run win is India’s biggest win in terms of runs in Test.

Thanks to the win, India are now leading the series 2-1. With momentum on their side, the hosts would be aiming to wrap up the series by winning the fourth Test, scheduled to be played in Ranchi from February 23.
