MS Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings have an unbreakable bond. MSD has played all his life for the Yellow franchise and has led them to five trophies. Dhoni has groomed many players under his eyes and has taken the team to the playoffs in almost every season they have played.

However, with MS Dhoni returning to the yellow jersey once again in the IPL 2024, many fans will want to know if will this be his last stint in the cash-rich league. While it is only MSD who knows the answer, other than him CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan was also asked about the same.

Kasi Viswanathan believed that it would be his call and the CSK skipper has not yet indicated anything to the team management related to the issue.

CSK CEO opens up on MS Dhoni’s future plans

As quoted by Times Now, Kasi Viswanathan said, “Dhoni will decide himself. He has not told us anything till now and it will be totally his call. So far he has not given any indication to us either.”

MSD started with the Chennai Super Kings in the first edition of the Indian Premier League and since then has never parted ways with the franchise. Notably, Dhoni was forced to switch franchises when CSK were banned from the IPL but once the ban was lifted he returned at the helm and guided the team to more championship wins.

MS Dhoni also known by the name ‘Thala’, retired from international cricket in the year 2020, and now is seen only playing in the yellow jersey. MSD is the only Indian captain to win three ICC trophies whereas he is also the most successful skipper in the Indian Premier League.

If we look at the Chennai Super Kings, the franchise has featured in 14 editions of the Indian Premier League, wherein they have reached the playoffs 12 times and have played in the final on 10 occasions. The management of the team is as same as it was in 2008 whereas all the support staff are the former CSK players.

The team has mostly experienced players who have retired from international cricket but are still at the best of their cricket.

With the IPL 2024 all set to start from the last week of March, the Chennai Super Kings will be aiming to defend their title and become the team with the most titles in the cash-rich league. CSK have won five IPL trophies till now and are the joint most successful team along with Mumbai Indians.

Chennai Super Kings roped in Kiwi players Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell in the IPL 2024 auction and have also strengthened their batting lineup. The team has the likes of Matheesha Pathirana, Deepak Chahar, Maheesh Theekshana, and Ravindra Jadeja in their bowling, who will have the responsibility to restrict the opposition batsmen.
