Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra has had a brilliant run as the coach of the franchise and has led the team to two consecutive finals of the Indian Premier League (IPL). GT won the IPL in their debut season and now will be aiming for yet another title under the leadership of young Shubman Gill.

Gujarat Titans were in the headlines for the record trade deal of Hardik Pandya along with Mumbai Indians. The trade amount is reported to be around INR 15 crore. While it will be tough for GT to find Hardik’s replacement, Shubman Gill has all the caliber to lead the team.

Ashish Nehra opens up on the chat with Hardik Pandya

With Ashish Nehra all set for the task, while speaking to Jio Cinema, he opened the chat he had with Hardik Pandya. Nehra stated that Hardik showed a desire to move back to his old team, which was accepted by the team’s management because at last, the player’s happiness is important.

Ashish Nehra said, “Hardik Pandya has not gone back to a team that has caused a huge surprise. He played for that team for so many years, he showed his desire to go back there. Our management’s nature is such that, we think if a player wants to go there, right. He should be happy and that’s why he has gone there again. Replacing someone like Hardik Pandya is difficult, but we tried our best.”

After the departure of Pandya, Gujarat Titans named Shubman Gill as the team’s captain. Gill had a fabulous IPL 2023 with the bat and was the highest run scorer. Gill scored 890 runs from 16 matches which included two centuries. Gill has not yet captained any team in his cricketing career and this will be his first captaincy project.

While Shubman Gill has been named as the captain of the Gujarat Titans, Hardik Pandya will be leading Mumbai Indians. Hardik replaced Rohit Sharma, who led MI to five Indian Premier League trophies.

It will be interesting to witness how Pandya will lead the Mumbai Indians as he has been at his best since has taken over the captaincy role. Pandya has evolved differently as a player after taking up captaincy and has performed with both bat and ball.

Pandya has made mature decisions as a captain and now will have the onus to lead the Mumbai Indians and take them to their sixth IPL trophy.
