Former England skipper Nasser Hussain and Michael Atherton were involved in a hilarious banter while discussing the third Test between India and England which took place at the Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium in Rajkot.

India won the Test match by 434 runs and is now leading the series 2-1. The fourth Test is scheduled to commence on February 23, Friday at the Jharkhand State Cricket Association Stadium in Ranchi.

Michale Atherton was discussing Ravindra Jadeja‘s involvement in runouts throughout his Test career as the all-rounder was responsible for Sarfaraz Khan’s dismissal in the first innings.

He put over some stats and compared them to Nasser Hussain’s stats in terms of runouts and called him selfish. According to Atherton, Ravindra Jadeja could survive his runouts because he is fast but Hussain is just selfish. However, Nasser Hussain came up with an epic comeback in reply to Atherton’s comments.

Hussain and Atherton dissect Ravindra Jadeja’s run-out mysteries

“Looking at the statistics, Jadeja has been involved in nine runouts in his Test match career for India. He himself has survived those runouts eight times and has only been run out once. That’s got some similarity to your stats Nats (Nasser Hussain).

You have been involved in eight runouts with England in Test cricket and your mate at the other end had to depart seven times and you only once. I reckon Jadeja gets away with it because he’s fast, you got away with it because you’re selfish.” said Atherton.

“I am pleased to be compared with Ravindra Jadeja thank you very much. That one run out where I was run out was in Antigua where Thorpe completely barbecued me and the only good thing to come out of that run out was that you resigned at the end of that Test match because we lost so something good came out of that,” Nasser Hussain replied.

The topic arose when Michael Atherton talked about Ravindra Jadeja’s mistake in the first innings leading to Sarfaraz Khan’s run out. Atherton compared Ravindra Jadeja’s and Nasser Hussain’s runout stats in Test cricket and it was quite similar as both were only run out once in their Test career with most of the time the batter at the other end suffering. However, Atherton said that Ravindra Jadeja was able to escape because he was fast and Nasser Hussain was just selfish.
