India face Pakistan as they kick off their ICC T20 World Cup campaign in Melbourne on October 23. The match starts at 1.30 pm IST which is 7 pm local time. The super 12 round begins on October 22 with the first match between Australia and New Zealand- the finalists of last year’s T20 World Cup. The ICC T20 World Cup 2022 final will be played on November 13.
India and Pakistan have met thrice in Pakistan since the T20 World Cup 2021. Pakistan has come out victorious on two occasions while India has just once. Overall in 11 T20Is, India have won 8 and Pakistan three. This IND vs PAK game has had a huge build-up with expectations from the Indian team to assert revenge of their Asia Cup and T20 World Cup loss.
The captains from both teams said that their team is ready ahead of this mouth-watering clash. Babar Azam and Rohit Sharma have not spoken much about the tension of the match though.
“We wanted to come here early and acclamatise to the situation. By the time we play Pakistan, we will be prepared. We don’t believe in last minute information, I don’t want to believe in telling someone at the last minute that ‘you are playing,” Rohit said.
“Look, our preparations and this series particularly is meant for that (match against India)…and look, the India vs Pakistan are always a high-intensity one. And it is best that you stay cool and relaxed for this game because it helps you to perform better. And on the day we will try and give our hundred percent,” Babar Azam said after Pakistan qualified for the final of the T20I tri-series in New Zealand.
