SL vs PAK Today Match Prediction 1st Test- Who Will Win Today’s Test Match? SL vs PAK 2023. The first SL vs PAK Test match will be played in Galle from July 16-20. The Test match kickstarts the WTC 2023-25 cycle for both teams. The second Test will be played from July 24-28 in Colombo.

Sri Lanka will be led by Dimuth Karunaratne while Babar Azam will lead Pakistan. The Lankans finished fifth on the points table in the previous WTC cycle. They missed a shot at playing the final after losing the Test series against New Zealand.

Pakistan. on the other hand, will have a tough series. Babar Azam has not flourished as a Test captain yet. Pakistan lost to England and Australia at home in the previous WTC cycle. In 18 Tests as captain so far, Babar has won eight and lost six. Four matches ended in a draw.

The Lankan skipper Dimuth Karunaretne lamented on the state of Test cricket in general. In the build-up to the series, he said that the Test-playing nations barring the Big 3 are not playing too much of Test cricket which is saddening to see.

There is a challenge for Babar Azam as well to keep his nation and his team relevant in Test cricket. Pakistan mostly plays at home and does not tour overseas that often. Despite playing at home, losing to England and Australia in the previous cycle raised questions about Babar’s potential as captain. The two-match Test series will be a litmus test for him as he will be closely monitored.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka have played 57 Test matches to date with Pakistan winning 21 matches and Sri Lanka 17. As many as 19 Test matches ended in a draw. They last played a Test series in July 2022 with the Test series ending at 1-1.
