IPL Most Sixes: Hitting sixes has now become an indispensable part of T20 cricket. Gone are those days when players hardly depended on Sixes to make an impact on a cricket match. The scenario has completely changed with the arrival of T20 cricket. With only 120 balls to play in an inning, the players have no option but to play as many big shots as possible to collect maximum runs.

The conditions have also made things easier for the batsmen. Talking about IPL, the tournament has been graced by some of the biggest names in the history of T20 cricket. Over the years, one has seen players leaving the cricket world stunned with their six-hitting abilities in IPL.

IPL Most Sixes

Chris Gayle, the most decorated batsman in the history of T20 cricket, currently holds the record for hitting the most number of sixes in the IPL. The former West Indies opener finished his career in IPL with a mammoth 357 sixes. No other player has managed to hit even 300 sixes so far in IPL apart from Gayle. India skipper Rohit Sharma is a distant second with 255 sixes to his name.

AB de Villiers, MS Dhoni, and Virat Kohli complete the top five with 251, 239, and 233 sixes to their names respectively. The record for hitting most sixes in a single edition of the IPL is also held by Gayle for hitting as many as 59 sixes in 2012. The legendary West Indian also holds the record for hitting the most number of sixes during an IPL inning – 17.
