Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) has faced a major blow ahead of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. England pacer Mark Wood will be missing the upcoming season due to the injury that he faced after the first match of the ongoing Test series against India.

This will come as a huge blow because the quality of  Mark Wood will be hard to replace. The fast bowler played a vital role for the team last year even though he played just a few games. He with his pace was vital for the team and helped them reach the playoffs. He also picked a fifer as well.

Lucknow Super Giants had signed Mark Wood ahead of the 2022 season for INR 7.50 crore. He, however, missed that season because of an elbow injury. In IPL 2023, the fast bowler picked up 11 wickets at an average of 11.82. He troubled the batters with his raw pace in the tournament.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) however, didn’t take long to announce the replacement for Mark Wood for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. West Indies pacer Shamar Joesph has been roped in by the franchise for the upcoming edition.

Shamar Joseph will ne be joining Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for INR 3 crores. This will for the first time that a West Indies pacer will be taking part in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He recently made his debut for West Indies in the Test series against Australia and set the stage on fire.

Shamar Joseph’s best came in the second Test against Australia at Gabba. Despite being injured, the fast bowler gave his everything for the team and helped them win the game. He picked 7 wickets in the 2nd innings to script a historic win in Australia for West Indies

Releasing the official statement, IPL stated:“Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) named Shamar Joseph as a replacement for pacer Mark Wood for the upcoming edition of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Joseph will join LSG for INR 3 Crore. The speedster was recently at the forefront during West Indies’ Test win at the Gabba. He picked 7 wickets in the 2nd innings to script a historic win in Australia for West Indies. This will be Joseph’s first stint in the IPL.”
