It all started with the heated exchange of words between Virat Kohli and LSG pacer Naveen-ul-Haq during the game. The duo had some harsh words to say to each other during the game. While many thought that was an on-field tiff, the matter extended even to the post-match handshakes as well.

Virat Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq had to go at each other and were separated by their teammates. Amidst all this, LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir stepped in too and then the spotlight was on him and Kohli as they too had a verbal spat.

Ahmed Shehzad while talking about the incident highlighted the gesture of Gautam Gambhir when he gave his Man of the Match award to Virat Kohli after a match against Sri Lanka when Kohli scored his maiden ODI century in 2009. He questioned the LSG mentor saying that he used that award as compensation for the misbehavior. Speaking to Nadir Ali’s podcast, he explained: 

“I saw a clip, someone sent me the other day, where Gautam Gambhir said he gave his Man of the Match award to Virat Kohli. Did Virat Kohli tell you to give him Man of the Match? Or you gave the award to him as a compensation for the misbehavior with him after that match. Things don’t work like this.” 

Ahmed Shehzad further lashed out at Gautam Gambhir, saying that he cannot digest that Virat Kohli has earned more respect than what he could do in his entire career. He added: 

“It looks like Gautam Gambhir cannot digest that Virat Kohli has earned more respect than what he did in his entire career. He cannot digest the fact that Kohli has earned more respect that too at a young age.”

Ahmed Shehzad further asked Gautam Gambhir that had Naveen-ul-Haq sledged Sachin Tendulkar, whether he would react in the same. He added that Virat Kohli has achieved a lot in his career and deserves a lot of respect. He explained: 

“Just imagine, had Naveen-ul-Haq sledged Sachin Tendulkar in IPL the way he sledged Virat, would Gambhir reply in the same way? So, you know, (we) consider Virat as this generation’s king. He has 75 hundreds. You may not think it is a big achievement, but we are cricket lovers. We love players irrespective of country and religion. So he deserves respect.” He concluded.

The 23-year-old, who is a player of the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL), said that he was stunned to see the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter Virat Kohli bat for about two and a half hours during a net session ahead of the clash between Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bangalore and Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans.

“During the IPL, we had a match the next day against RCB. In the nets, I was just counting the time Virat was out there. To be honest, he batted for two and half hours.

“Main aisa hairan hua (I was so shocked ). Our nets were finished and still, he was there batting. The next day he scored around 70 against us. His mindset is very positive,” Rashid told sports presenter Sawera Pasha ahead of the Asia Cup.

Kohli batted brilliantly the next day against Gujarat Titans and smashed his second half-century in the 15th edition of the tournament. He scored 73 off 54 balls, which was his highest score in IPL 2022, and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) registered an easy eight-wicket win over IPL 2022 champions Gujarat Titans.

“If there was any other normal batter then everyone would have said that he is in form but with Virat the expectations are such that they only want centuries,” Rashid said.

“Jitna meri usse baat hui hai. Uske mind mein kabhi aya nahi ki log kya kahenge ya unki expectations kya hai. (Whenever I have had a word with him he has made it clear that people’s expectations don’t really bother him).

“The way that he prepares, I think is an example for all of us. We tend to get motivated and put in more effort after watching him practice.

“A certain time comes in your career when whatever you try, doesn’t work. But we as fans, want him to score big runs and I’m sure the hundreds will also come,” he added.

Former India National Cricket Team captain Virat Kohli will return to action in the Asia Cup 2022, which will be played in the UAE from August 27, after a break of over a month.

In their tournament opener, the Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team are set to lock horns with Babar Azam-led Pakistan National Cricket Team at the Dubai International Stadium, Dubai on Sunday, August 28.

Yuzvendra Chahal dominated the batters in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) while playing for the inaugural champions, Rajasthan Royals. He finished with 27 wickets in his bag in 17 games at an average of 19.52 and an economy of 7.75. Also, Chahal won the purple cap in the IPL 2022.

Speaking to Sports Yaari, Chahal revealed that Rohit Sharma had told him to “bowl in end overs as well powerplay”. He added that Rohit’s advice boosted his confidence in bowling in those phases of the game and played a key role in his success.

“Before going to the IPL, Rohit Bhai told me to bowl in end overs as well powerplay, I communicated this with Sanju during IPL then it helped my confidence in bowling in these phases and continuing in the Indian team as well.”

While talking about the former India National Cricket Team captain Virat Kohli’s current form, Chahal said that people only think about his centuries and his crucial 60-70 runs contributions with the bat are being ignored.

You just see his average across all formats, the problem is we just think about his 100s, we don’t talk about those valuable contributions of 60-70 because of the standards he has set,” said the 32-year-old. 

“If he is there at the crease and has 15-20 runs behind him, I am telling you no bowler wants to bowl to him,” the off-spinner added.

The CSK all-rounder was ruled out in the business end of the tournament after suffering a rib injury during their match against Delhi Capitals on May 8.

According to media reports, Dhoni wanted to safeguard Jadeja from losing his spot in India’s T20 World Cup squad amid a dip in form, and hence, the 41-year-old returned back as team captain.

“CSK insiders still insist Dhoni sincerely believed that Jadeja’s place in the Indian T20 team could come under scanner if he didn’t perform in the IPL and that’s why he was relieved of his captaincy,” a Times of India report read.

There are reports suggesting that Jajdeja has not been in touch with the CSK management since IPL 2022 and that could end his eight years of alliance with the four-time IPl winners.

Jadeja joined CSK in 2012 and is currently the third most wicket-taker (114) of the franchise behind Dwayne Bravo (154) and Ravichandran Ashwin (120).

Rutu (Ruturaj) is my friend… so he was always there with me, he supported me and gave me the confidence saying, ‘You have everything, you just have to believe in yourself because for every player it happens, where they go through this phase’,” said Choudhary.

“After the Mumbai (Indians) game, I gained confidence and continued to bowl with that confidence,” added Choudhary.

The 26-year-old further said that the ability to swing the ball is very important to have for a left-arm pacer.

“For a left-arm fast bowler, the swing is important and the one which comes into the right-hander is very important. Inswing is the most dangerous ball to any right-handed batter. Length is important. You need to work and improve your accuracy and swing,” he concluded.

Chahal picked a couple of wickets in the first ODI match against India. He got the better of Rovman Powell and later dismissed the in-form Brandon King in the 45th over.

Romario Shepherd hit Chahal for a six in the 47th over but the spinner managed to hold it to a nine-run over. India went on to win the game by three runs on the excellent bowling by Mohammed Siraj in the final over.

“I was confident (of bowling in death) from there (Rajasthan Royals). They have given me a role where I need to bowl 2-3 overs after the 40-over mark,” Chahal told reporters in a video uploaded by Sports Today on its YouTube channel.

India’s stand-in skipper Shikhar Dhawan had touched upon creating a lively atmosphere in the team dressing room ahead of the series.

“I think he (Dhawan) is a cool guy. He is bonding with everyone and is like a brother. We don’t just talk about our plans, we also have fun on and off the field,” Chahal said.

India will play against West Indies in the second ODI on Sunday (July 24) at the Queen’s Park Oval. If India manages to beat Nicholas Pooran and his men here then they create a history of winning consecutive bilateral series against a single opponent.

India have defeated West Indies in 11 straight ODI bilateral series only Pakistan has the same record against Zimbabwe.

Umran Malik Has Something That Others Don’t Have: Aakash Chopra

Umran is without a doubt a highly unique skill. Bowling at the type of speeds he produces requires an innate skill that cannot be developed. Aakash Chopra, a former cricketer for India, recently expressed a similar opinion on his YouTube channel. 

“Umran Malik has something that others don’t have – extreme pace. You can’t teach that to anyone. You can teach everything else – line and length, yorker, bouncer, slower ones. But you can’t teach someone how to bowl with speed. You are either born a pacer or born a medium-pacer… No doubt, he has the pace.

But what I feel is that Umran Malik is not ready for international cricket as of now. It is very simple, he needs time. He hasn’t played a lot of cricket and so he is still raw,” Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel.  

Umran is fortunate to be 22 years old. He is thankfully not a late discovery. Everyone is aware of his uncommon talent thanks to the Sunrisers Hyderabad, who saw it when he was still a net bowler for them and recognised it, and the platform the IPL offers. Umran recorded a 157kmph speed during an IPL 2022 match against the Delhi Capitals. 

Another school of thought holds that Umran needs to be given a chance in Test cricket rather than being pushed at the moment as a T20I bowler.

But based on what we’ve seen thus far from the speed phenom, the Indian team management and selectors will undoubtedly be aware that giving him the time and space to develop as a cricketer before releasing him full-time as an India player would be the most sensible course of action.

“I have played under him. I have played under MS Dhoni as well. There is not much difference between both of them in terms of the characteristics – very calm, very loyal to their players. Brilliant captain, brilliant player,” he further added.

“We were horrendous in white-ball cricket before that (2015 World Cup). He changed the mindset of the players. Categories Of The Bidding Process

The bidding process has been divided into four categories, the details of which are given below. 

Package A- India’s Television Rights

This is an exclusive bracket for getting the broadcasting rights within the Indian sub-continent only.

Package B- India’s Digital Rights

This includes winning the digital rights of the entire Indian subcontinent. The winner will be able to digitally broadcast the games across the Indian sub-continent.

Package C- Special Digital space For Selected Games 

This is a separate digital space created to broadcast special 18 games. This includes the final, the playoff matches, the tournament opener, and a few evening weekend games. In a 74-match season, 18 special games will be broadcasted. However, if the number increased o 84 or 94, the number of matches will go up to 20 or 22 respectively.

Package D- Overseas Television and Digital Rights

This is a combined category of television and digital rights. The eights will be divided into two countries and they can either include the entire world or the five separate regions.

How Will The Bidding Process Be Conducted 

The Bidders will have to make separate bids for each package. They will have the control of pulling out from the bidding process if they want to after a certain length of time. This is different from the 2017 auction where there was a process of closed bidding. This process may take time and the eventual winner’s name might not be revealed instantly.

Package B is worth Rs. 33 crore per match.

“When I received the call-up, Dale Steyn sir was long with me. We were on the bus, en-route to a game. Everyone congratulated me while Dale sir said, ‘I told you even before the IPL 2022 began that you will be in the Indian team after this season’. And thanks to almighty that it happened,” Malik said.

If you look at all teams, if there is one player who has attained most success at No. 3, it is Rahul Tripathi, who scored so many runs at that position,” Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.

“He won several games for the Sunrisers Hyderabad and he contributed a lot to SRH winning five matches in a row,” he further said.

Tripathi scored 397 runs in 16 innings for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2021, where he mostly batted at the No.3 position and was slotted at No.4 on a couple of instances.
